SASKO spreads sandwich joy on Mandela Day

 

This year, SASKO asked its bakeries across the country to pledge their 67 minutes to making sandwiches for the different charities in their communities. The initiative was a wonderful success.

This year, SASKO asked its bakeries across the country to pledge their 67 minutes to making sandwiches for the different charities in their communities. The initiative was a wonderful success.

On Tuesday, 18 July 2017, the SASKO team joined many South Africans in donating 67 minutes of their time to help others, and commemorate the 67 years of Mandela’s life spent fighting for equality.

All of SASKO’s bakeries nationally and at the head offices came together, armed with butter knives to make sandwiches in honor of Nelson Mandela with more than 16 000 sandwiches being distributed on the day.

It didn’t stop there, SASKO also collaborated with Jenny Morris to sell muffins and making homemade soup and bread at De Waterkant for The Haven in Cape Town. This initiative would guarantee a destitute person a full stomach and a roof over their heads for a few nights.
