Shamrock Pies

Shamrock Pies is a privately owned family business and was founded by an Irish confectioner in 1973. Through his attention to detail he perfected the “Shamrock Pie” we still know and love today. The owners Tony and Grazia Linden bought the business in June 2000, and in the following year moved to a larger and more central premises in Braelyn East London which remains the sole production facility.

 

 

 

 

The emphasis of Shamrock Pies has been, and will always be, maintaining the high quality for which they have become renowned. There is no compromise on utilising the best ingredients available. Only the leanest most succulent beef and chicken are used in the meat pies. Trimming of fat and dicing of meat is done in house so that quality can be controlled. The best spices mixed to Shamrock Pies specifications are used and there are no added preservatives.

 

Some of their staff members have been working for Shamrock Pies for more than 25 years and over the years the staff compliment has more than tripled to about 74 people. The staff take great pride in their work and are proud to be associated with the excellent reputation of the “Shamrock Pie”.

 

Shamrock Pies currently manufactures 10 variants of pies : Steak, Chicken, Curry Steak, Pepper Steak, Cornish Pasty, Beef Sausage Roll, Tandoori Chicken, Cheesy Spinach & Potato, Steak & Kidney and Chicken Sausage Roll. These pies are supplied to the local area freshly baked six days a week, but are also sold in frozen form to local and outlying areas to be baked on sight as demand requires. Shamrock Pies customers cover most of the Eastern Cape, also in Plettenberg Bay, Knysna and Stellenbosch. Recently sold in Gauteng and soon Durban.

 

 

Shamrock pastry is unique, not only is it crisp and tasty but it microwaves well to keep its crispness and delicious flavour. Another positive is the ratio of filling to total weight of the pie, this is close to 66% which means that the consumer is eating filling on the first delicious bite.

 

 

 

The Company does all their own deliveries in temperature controlled refrigerated trucks.
Shamrock Pies complies with the GFSI (Good Food Safety Initiative) standards and is subject to audits from QPRO, ensuring top quality product standards and safety.
