Bühler co-founds Future Food Initiative with ETH Zürich and EPFL

 

 

Bühler has committed to co-found the Future Food Initiative launched by ETH Zürich and EPFL, together with industrial partners Givaudan and Nestlé. The initiative aims to accelerate the development of healthy food products and more sustainable, plastic-free packaging. Its research lays the ground for secure access to affordable nutrition, addressing global challenges of hunger and malnutrition.

 

 

 

Bühler focus on Consumer Foods with new segment

As of January 1, 2019, Bühler will address the global food market with a newly created segment: Consumer Foods. By combining the current chocolate, nuts, bakery and coffee business with the Haas business, the new organization will be able to support customers even better in these global markets through simplified interfaces, integrated solutions, innovation, and services. Germar Wacker, now CEO of Haas, will lead the new segment and join Bühler’s Executive Board.

 

 

 

Blommer Chocolate to be acquired by Fuji Oil Holding

The Blommer Chocolate Company, the largest ingredient chocolate manufacturer in North America and third largest in the world, announced that it has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Fuji Oil Holding, Inc., a global leader in oil and fat ingredients serving the food industry. The sale includes all Blommer business entities, including its four manufacturing operations in North America and one in Shanghai. Blommer is a private, family-owned company; Fuji Oil is publicly traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The 24th iba has drawn to a close with a new world champion confectioner, Haoran Lyu (China), 76,800 trade visitors, and trade fair contracts worth 2.1 billion euros. Trade visitors were particularly interested in testing new products and the presentation of innovations in production technology, raw materials, and shopfitting.

 

 

 

 

 

Team from China wins the iba-UIBC Cup of Bakers

Zhou Bin and Peng Fudong from China are the winners of the “iba-UIBC Cup of bakers”. The international competition, in which the best in their field face off against each other, takes place every three years in Munich at iba, the world’s leading trade fair for bakery, confectionery, and snacks. At this year’s cup, twelve teams from twelve countries competed for the gold medal. The winners were honoured and celebrated on Monday, 17 September at iba.

 

 

William Racin, CEPC, Named 2018 Pastry Chef of the Year at the American Culinary Federation National Convention


2018—The best pastry chef in the nation, according to the American Culinary Federation (ACF), is William Racin, CEPC, Pastry Chef at The Duquesne Club, Pittsburgh, PA. Racin received the 2018 ACF Pastry Chef of the Year award after winning a competition at Cook. Craft. Create. ACF National Convention & Show, held in New Orleans, July 15-19.
