Introducing the SUPREME Siyabhaka Academy class of 2022
The SIYABHAKA ACADEMY was pleased to welcome 14 new learners in February 2022. The students were carefully selected from across South Africa to be a part of an 18-month learnership, receiving both theoretical and practical baking experience and training.
So far, our students have been exposed to working within an in-store bakery environment with the assistance and guidance of their technical advisors. They have gained vital experience in leading self and leading change through their customer and in-store engagement with the added benefit of exposure to various channels and several RCL FOODS brands.
The students have received theoretical training on fundamental baking methods in relation to yeast products (bread and rolls) as well as the basic percentages of premixes used in different baking applications for sweet doughs. In addition to this, they received training on the different reactions between yeast and baking agents in relation to chemical aerated dough and muffins.
This has allowed them to develop insight into various baking techniques that are required in the industry. They have also received training on FIFO and correct storage techniques for frozen products.
We are eager to watch our students grow and progress further on their baking journeys in the months ahead!
