Roff launches the next-generation R-40 maize mill: leaner and meaner
Roff Milling has unveiled the completely redesigned 2026 R-40 maize mill, the compact, next-generation system built on the success of its flagship R-70.
Incorporating the latest technological advances from the R-70 line, the new R-40 delivers the same proven performance and flour quality—now in a smaller, more efficient, and more affordable package for African millers and entrepreneurs.
Built on Roff’s best-selling R-70 platform
Since its launch in 2012, the R-70 has become Roff’s best-selling commercial mill and a benchmark for reliability and profitability in Africa’s milling industry. With more than 75 installations operating across the continent, the R-70’s design philosophy—robust construction, easy operation, and excellent extraction rates—has set the standard for modern maize processing.
The first R-40, introduced in 2021, was born directly from the R-70’s success. Roff’s engineers took the R-70’s proven process flow and equipment, scaled it to a 2–3 ton per hour system, and created a compact version that maintained the same high-quality output. Now, with years of customer feedback, the launch of the 2026 R-40 continues that lineage stronger than ever.
What’s new for the 2026 model
The new R-40 integrates Roff’s most recent technology upgrades, first introduced on the R-70, into a refined, future-ready design:
• 30% smaller footprint – a more compact layout using gravity conveying for reduced energy use and easier maintenance.
• New DGX degerminator – standard on all 2026 R-40s, offering cleaner separation, reduced wear, and lower power consumption.
• VTN vitamin doser – Roff’s new precision fortification system for consistent micronutrient dosing.
• Modern dark-grey frame – a bold, updated look reflecting Roff’s industrial identity and innovation drive, and reduces leadtime.
Compact design, big-mill results
By simplifying the process flow and reducing moving parts, the 2026 R-40 not only uses less power, but offers lower maintenance and running costs without sacrificing performance. The system achieves 69–74% extraction for super maize meal and 79–84% for special or breakfast meal, depending on region and maize quality.
The R-40 is ideal for entrepreneurs, millers expanding regionally, or operations seeking to diversify their product lines with a smaller, high-output mill. It requires minimal civil works and can typically be installed in a month, thanks to Roff’s turnkey design.
Designed for African entrepreneurs
Like all Roff mills, the new R-40 is built for real-world milling environments — from Zambia to Kenya, Malawi to South Africa. The system can be operated with a small team, typically one operator and three to four packers per shift, with minimal training required.
