Famasons & Nestlé Host Sweetest Competition Yet
On Thursday, 17 July 2025, the world of professional baking came alive at the Nestlé South Africa head office in Bryanston, as Famasons in collaboration with Nestle, proudly hosted its much-anticipated Bake-Off Event.
A celebration of creativity, product innovation, and partnership, the event brought together a specially selected group of Famasons’ valued customers — from beloved bakeries to top-tier retailers — for a day filled with flavour, fun, and inspiration.
Masterclass Moment: International Flair Meets Local Passion
One of the day’s major highlights was a live demonstration from the acclaimed Chef Jodi-Ann Palmer and her team, who wowed the audience with an indulgent and innovative Milky Bar Carrot Cake Cheesecake using the Famasons Carrot cake and Cheesecake premixes along with Nestle Milky Bar Dessert Topping and Milky Bar Chocolate.
Not only did attendees get a chance to watch the baking artistry up close, but they also received the full recipe, allowing them to recreate the show-stopping dessert in their own kitchens.
The Main Event: Cake Decorating Competition with a Twist
Once the ovens were warmed and the creativity flowing, it was time for the main attraction: a hands-on cake competition, where participants competed in pairs for baking glory.
Each team was tasked with the choice of selecting a chocolate, vanilla or red velvet sponge cake mix from Famasons’ and transforming it into a visually stunning and delicious showpiece. But this wasn’t just about looks — teams were encouraged to incorporate as many products as possible from both Famasons and Nestlé, including newly launched items and special flavours made available exclusively for the event.
Judging was based on presentation, creativity, and use of product, with a panel comprising of a Nestlé professional, Famasons rep and Chef Jodi.
After much deliberation, the winners were announced:

🥈 2nd Place: Queenswood Spar
🥉 3rd Place: Karaglen SuperSpar
Each winning team walked away with a curated prize hamper of professional baking tools, apparel, range of dessert toppings and of course, Chocolate!
Sensory Games, Laughter, and Sweet Surprises
The event also included a series of interactive sensory games, designed to challenge guests’ palates and showcase the quality and range of ingredients on offer. From guessing the flavour of mystery essences to identifying product samples, these games proved a hit among the crowd — with both bragging rights and prizes up for grabs.
These games not only entertained but also served as a subtle reminder of the craftsmanship and sensory awareness that goes into professional baking.
