12 August 2019: The 3rd annual Soweto Kota Festival will take place on 7 and 8 September 2019, and SASKO, the experts in milling and baking, is proud to announce it has renewed its sponsorship for a third year.

The SASKO Soweto Kota Festival launched in 2017 and has grown in size and stature year on year as it provides a platform for up and coming local chefs, and is an opportunity to showcase the much loved Kota.

Jackie Pillay, SASKO Senior Bread Brand Manager, says, “We are so excited to be a part of the Festival again this year. SASKO embraces South Africa’s Mzansi Bread culture and we celebrate the heritage and nostalgia that is often associated with these dishes. Over the last two years, we could see the growth and potential of The SASKO Soweto Kota Festival, and as we gear up for the 3rd event, we know it will grow even greater.”

The SASKO Soweto Kota Festival will take place at the Elkah Cricket Oval in Rockville, Soweto. It is the perfect venue for families and friends to come together to celebrate their heritage and sample the best kotas in Soweto. There will also be a wide selection of entertainers there on the day to ensure everyone lingers longer to dance, or lounge on the lawns in appreciation of our local talent – and the best kotas in town.

“We believe in supporting local entrepreneurs who have supported our brand over the years too. This year, SASKO will again be searching for the best kotas at the Festival, and we will be giving away R45 000 worth of marketing support to the top three vendors.” says Pillay.

September is Heritage month, and SASKO is a brand that is over 80 years old, and seeped in heritage. This year, South Africa celebrate 25 years of democracy and the Festival will honor this as its set to wow.

Tickets to the Festival are available for purchase at Checkers, OK, Computicket and Shoprite. Kids under four enter mahala. Tickets are only R60 for adults, and R20 for children between 4-12 years old.
