Welbilt KitchenConnect Launches the Largest Smart Restaurant Ecosystem for the Foodservice Industry.
Welbilt, Inc. (NYSE:WBT), a leading provider of commercial equipment and cloud device management for the foodservice industry, is proud to announce today the launch of the Largest Smart Restaurant Ecosystem.
The ecosystem is powered by the biggest digital companies in the Internet of Things (IoT) space that will empower its homegrown cloud platform for connected restaurant equipment, KitchenConnect®.
The foodservice equipment industry is in the midst of the largest digital transformation in history. The decisions made by Welbilt and its partners will have direct impact on ensuring the highest consistency on food quality, improving on sustainability, and securing all their telemetry.
Until today, it has been very difficult to find the best suppliers who will be able to provide all the above as well as work together in order to bring the desired outcome into fruition.
The Largest Restaurant Smart Ecosystem consists of the following best-in-class technology companies that will be able to deliver each of the needed digital solutions to the customers at the highest standard:
KitchenConnect – Provides an award-winning device cloud management solution connecting any restaurant equipment to enable reduction of cost, increase of equipment uptime, and enhancement of food quality.
AT&T – Provides a global cellular service, professional service team for restaurant connectivity set up, and one SmartHub edge connecting all equipment in the restaurant to KitchenConnect.
Bruviti – Serves an AI-powered customer-service triage and parts-prediction platform for KitchenConnect that delivers superior aftermarket service.
HCL – Provides best-in-class Digital Transformation expertise in integrating end-to-end technologies including Cloud, IoT, AI, Analytics and Cybersecurity on KitchenConnect.
Microsoft – Provides secure edge infrastructure with Azure Sphere and hosts KitchenConnect on the Azure IoT platform for critical insights into kitchen operations.

“At Welbilt, we believe in the power of ‘better together’. The Largest Smart Restaurant Ecosystem will provide the biggest combined expertise from the leading-edge digital companies to offer a complete suite for transforming any restaurant into a smart one and empower our customers in their digital transformation,” said Omar Jacques Omran, Welbilt’s VP Digital Transformation and Managing Director of KitchenConnect.

Highlights of a connected kitchen system include:
Menu Downloads Whether you are introducing new seasonal menus or simply tweaking existing ones, alterations can be made once and replicated throughout your estate. Each venue simply needs to accept the update and it is automatically uploaded onto each machine.
Report management Having accurate information on production statistics, cooking cycles and how much of each menu item is cooked per day is invaluable in monitoring gross margin, stock requirements and promotional paybacks. This live feed will keep the operator up to date every minute of day and night.
Quality management Knowing when oil needs changing in a fryer, or whether a cleaning routine is being followed in a combi, is just a graphic away. This helps to ensure the equipment is performing at the top of its game.
Asset Management Keeping track of where each piece of equipment is and its age and service status can be managed online anytime from anywhere.
Service management Allowing an engineer to interrogate an appliance before leaving the office means an improved first-time fix rate and the right parts being on hand when the engineer arrives on site. With predictive maintenance and advanced notifications, you can monitor the components and change them before they fail
Key for the end users:
Once a customer has created a KitchenConnect account, he/she can create more users (internal or external) that can also monitor the equipment and get alerts & notifications. This won’t have an extra cost, so they can give access to the third party to take care of those.
For customers that don’t want this, we’ll always have a free subscription available. It will work like this:
• Free trial period where customers get access to all KitchenConnect features.
• At the end of free trial period we’ll send a communication to customer, who has 2 options:
o Keep the free subscription, in that case the features will be reduced. This will be the default if customer doesn’t take any action after our communication.
o Keep all the features, in that case we’ll ask for a payment method and we’ll start charging on a monthly basis.
