Advanced baking workshop for Clover Mama’s

Clover Mama Afrika, Clover’s CSI project, recently reunited their 2017 bakers and cooks for the last training session of the year, including a cake baking course with emphasis on decorating.

The training session started off with Clover Mama Afrika’s founder Prof Elain Vlok, who provided a refresher/evaluation session on fruit cake making.

This was followed by Juandi Meyer providing a cake baking course with emphasis on decorating. Finally, teachers Anusha Padayachee and Leonie Edwards were back to give the training beneficiaries more added value knowledge on cooking with spices and herbs as well as the art of making samoosas. All the trainees confirmed that their day-to-day dishes, as well as the dishes they make for their catering functions, have been transformed since they have learned to use spices properly.

Juandi Meyer demonstrates the famous cake collar decorating technique that soon became the trainee’s favourite technique to practice.

It was concurred by all training facilitators that the trainees were an absolute pleasure to train due to their eagerness and positive attitude to learn. And as for the trainees, they concurred that their success is due to perfect teachers!

There is no doubt that the trainees’ respective cooking and catering projects will benefit during the upcoming festive season through the new-found knowledge they received through this year’s training.

Clover Mama Afrika empowers Mamas with vital skills such as: baking, bread baking skills, cooking, sewing, quilting, business management and food gardening. Over and above the training sessions, these women are all supplied with the necessary tools, equipment and infrastructure to create an income for themselves and give back to their communities.
